Damn awesome!
Damn awesome!
Thank you, sir. \m/
Nice work man! great song structure and I like the mix, only thing I would do is make the snare a bit louder it sounds a bit low compared to the bass drum.
Sucks that your PC kept crashing, what DAW are you using? is it a 32- or 64-bit host?
Switching to 64-bit really helped me out a lot with my RAM issues.
Thanks. Yeah the snare and drums in general were supposed to be a bit quiet and in the background mainly because they were too MIDI sounding.. I extensively use 64bit, have been since FL 11 came out. But once I roll with some heavy sample libraries, I get so many underruns either because either something is wrong with my computer or my inbuilt sound card is pathetic. :/
Nice melody man :)
Wow this is amazing for your first attempt at orchestra! My favorite part was at 01:25 :)
EWQL is pretty awesome, isn't it? Even though some might say it's a bit "outdated" I still like to use it in my projects as well. I really can't wait what masterpieces you will compose next now that you have an orchestra at your fingertips :P
Try not to add too much reverb on EWQL Symphonic Orchestra most of the samples already sound pretty wet (I usually like to add just a slight bit of extra reverb, usually about 20%)
as for panning most of EWQL Symphonic Orchestra is already pre-panned in a way but it's never wrong to make adjustments :)
Also don't be afraid to raise the levels a bit more with the percussion.
Can't wait what more you have in store for us with your new library :)
Nice work man!
Hello! And thanks a lot for all the great tips! *takes notes*
Yeah, 1:25 is pretty cool. I tried to do it a bit different from the rest of the song :3
EWQL is very awesome, especially to me, as it's my first actual bought VST, which means it opened a lot of new possibilities!
I agree. I'll try cutting down on the reverb for next time! And I'll make sure to get my panning straight ;)
Percussion volume is to be raised => Noted.
Thanks a lot for leaving a helpful review, and for being great inspiration :D
Sounds pretty good! I like how you mixed the Orchestra and Oriental instruments. Take all the time you need on your album man,
I'm pretty busy often a lot as well and whenever I have some free time I spend it on composing music.
Doesn't matter if it takes a couple of months or even a year. As long as you have the motivation you'll get it done.
Keep it up :)
Thanks Mattashi. Always appreciate your reviews.
a very cheerful and happy song. Awesome work!
Now excuse me while I dance some more :D
Thank you very much! Just dont overdance yourself. Save some for my next upcomming songs x)
This is really awesome! Like Lucid mentioned this has an Arabic feel to it, I can picture myself in a desert when listening to this.
Really love the string work and percussion and I'm thinking Act ll starts at 01:17?
Nice work man :)
Yep, spot on, heh, Act II does indeed start at 01:17.
Thank you very much, I'm very glad you like it!
Nice little loop Lucid :)
I do wish it was a bit longer but there isn't anything repetitive in those 35 seconds, lots of melody and chord variation so that's good!
I'm really eager to see what your working on, when will you show us a glimpse of your project? :3
Thanks Mattashi!
Yeah, well. As soon as I am finished with what I'm working on, I'll focus on a few longer tracks as well. Who knows, I might just make something in between anyway, as I'm easily distracted when I feel inspireed XD
"...lots of melody and chord variation so that's good!"
=> My specialty.
"I'm really eager to see what your working on, when will you show us a glimpse of your project? :3"
=> I'm eager too! Alas, I cannot show anything until I am finished. I'm actually vorking on two entirely separate things. At first, there's the game I'm making. Progress has been made. I still suspect it might take a month or so before it's ready for release, even if it's pretty simple. I want to make sure that it's actually good :D
Other than that, on the side I'm working on a Collab with an awesome Newgrounds musician ;)
I have no idea when it will be finished either though, sorry to say.
I, on the other hand, am really excited to see the animation Crabbwalker is working on, as well as hearing your music in it!!! XD
I don't like coffee either... High-five!
You know what's funny those strings you used they sometimes sound like an accordion is playing or is there an accordion playing o.o? xD
Love how simple but pretty this song is.
no 0 rates for you! :3
Hahha, I am surprised by the positivity I got for NOT liking coffee :D *High-five*!
Hehhe, you got me. I definitely added a low quality accordion in the mix just for fun (and to reach some other frequencies).
I like simplicity sometimes too. That said, I'll probably redo this better sometime, as I like the basic concept.
You know, I am also surprised by the positivity this track received o.O Thanks a lot!!!
Wow Lucid this is really something! I love how you did this piece. This track doesn't feel like it's 3 minutes and 26 seconds long maybe it's because you made it so damn interesting to listen to.
It sounds so haunting and I really loved the little segments where the piano came in to play 00:57 and 01:14 it really gives some contrast to that gloomy background.
I really hope I get to play your game in the future with your music :D
Are you doing this game all by yourself? like programming and everything D:
Hello Mattashi!
I'm really happy you like the piece, and the way it's structured :3
00:57 and 01:14 are without a doubt my favorite parts! It's clearly "stolen" from 0:48-1:18 in "Feather" though, as I loved the filtered strings and piano that KatMaestro used.
I believe that in order for every sad song to really leave an impact on the listener, there must be a part that hints at... Perhaps not happiness, but something... Hopeful?
It's not as important in music such as this I feel, but I tried to implement that part anyway, for the contrast, so you were spot on!
I'm getting a clearer and clearer idea of how to make the game every day, and I'll probably begin developing it in a week or so. I am planning on making everything myself, unless I decide that I want some background art, in which case I might ask my sister for some. I know nothing of coding, but I'll make the game in the same way I created "D-Pression", which is using Stencyl. I have a subscription that holds for a couple of months still, so why not use it? :D
I hope I'll actually manage to make the game a good one, so that people don't get disappointed D:
Thanks for the review!!!!!!!
